Armor and Costume question
I am trying to get an idea of how often people are making uniforms- specifically Klingon uniforms. Also please post the amount of time you have been on the site and if you've made more than one please post why (upgrades, different style umiform, etc).

Because of the endless series of issues that have arisen in the last few months, I've only been able to collect materials, including several yards of grey vinyl, leather like material for the gorget and gauntlets, faux fur for sleeves and an undershirt. I also have the overall pattern I need.
I still need several spools of black ribbon, a belt & buckle, pants and something for my shins. I'm considering used baseball cathcher's grieves, repainted in matte black. I also need spine armor of some kind.

Currently I only have my TOS uniform, though this is my 3rd Uniform today. The First was a TOS Klingon style uniform when I was a teen, followed shortly by a TNG stlye uniform which I gave away when I could no longer fit into it. I was for a while without a uniform.
I am however thinking of some civilian clothing.

I took apart and re-did my old "uniform", added some new fabric and claws. Civilian type. I'm also working on a sash that won't interfere with my boney neck.

My uniform is about 3/4 done. I really need a honor sash and a new neck piece then its just a matter of picking up all the little details, house crest, comm badge, rank and department identifiers, ect ect ect.

Over the last 15 years, I have acquired six different uniforms
1 TOS
3 for MalaH, standard defense force, family ceremonial, all white military for ice planet usage.
1 for K'taymoQ - solid black military style
1 for TaQ a retired military officer of the Gholjub which is primarily a "liberated" Federation Admiral's jacket (film version) with a markIV disruptor burn through the chest.

I have been slowly compling mine from what i curently have at my disposale. On halloween i took a old Smock from my bakery job cut off the sleves wore pants that matched the color of it. bought a fabric which i used for a sash. wore the pins i aquiured from 'torQ and my leather trench coat. sadly no ridges or ears so if any one asked i was a TOS klingon.
I plan on ridges in the next year as well as a more vulcan style robe and pehaps a Vulcan styled cotsuome made with klingon fabrics like was sugested in my post on vulcan robes.

and that is doubly so!
I think I've been on here for a year now, and I've finished re-doing Maari's dress (as noted above) and finished making a sash for her trophies. Now, I've also sewn (for the very first time, so please be gentle) robes for my tharavul T'Lara.
In terms of ridges, in this last year, I've learned to sculpt and make my own, and have made several versions with different materials.
After December, when I'm done with school, I plan on making more "uniforms" for more aliens. I'd love to do an Andorian costume!
(all puns in this post unintended)

Since joining TE I've cobbled together one Klingon uniform based on Valkris from ST: SFS
I purchased the dress from q'Idar, hired a seamstress for the veil & floor length vest. Arizhel and M'Elanna assisted me with the headpiece, belt buckle and necklace.
I finished the headpiece and finished off minor details
It was truly a group effort.
For Dragon*Con 2010, I want to utilize the Valkris costume for partying but create a Mara (TOS: Day of the Dove) for the Ms. Klingon Pageant.
The only problem I have now is I need to learn how to create a mold and cast ridges for my Valkris.
My head/hairpiece this year was too amateurish and took away from the costume so many had worked hard to make.
I'm gonna start on that right after the new year.

I have had the same uniform since joining TE. I didn't make it though, mor'taH did. He has made some upgrades to it fairly recently and is planning to make me a whole new uniform soon.
