Speechless am I ! Large ears will I grow and talk funny I will. This project and the work you are doing at it fulfills a dream I never even thought to dream.
Hi, Jerry!
Please don't feel nagged:-) I'm checking in to see if my box of zines sent out last Monday has reached you.
I've been doing some scanning here-hoping to learn the ins and outs of transmitting what I scan to you and the Crewe.
All the best,
Sue
Thought I'd copy this message I just posted in Martek's archive threads, thinking it would be good to make certain that you have it soon.
(I'm not sure exactly the best way to leave updates and shipping lists. Is there a way to consolidate communications on our project?)
I'll copy the list of what I propose to pack up and send to you. Please let me know if there is another delegated scanner I should be sending some of this to instead. And after the list, I'll write you an update on where I am with some of the writers I've been trying to contact.
The Packing List--
The 10 issues of a zine called Antithesis, published between 1977 and 1980. Very interesting--mostly TOS Klingon stories and art. Very cool stuff by Pat Spath, Bonnie Reitz, C. Whitehead and others, mostly from PA, people who got inspired at a Philadelphia convention in 1977 to start a Klingon-focused zine. (Must be something in the water here:-) Over 1000 pages....
Thanks to Kris (John Halvorson) who gave me these years ago!)
Lynda Carraher's "Writer's Guide to Klingonaase," 1989, elegantly produced in a binder with alphabet tabs, almost 100 pages.
"Klingon Strike Force Covert Operations Manual," 128 pages.
Admiral Keel (Dave Christensen) gave permission to archive it here. If anyone has a copy with the fancier color cover, please let us know.
The two issues of "Heart Of Glory" produced in 1994 and 1995 under the leadership of Tom Hottle (K'Tol the Irritable) with Don Kroth as art editor.
The Klingon Empire Appointment Calendar, another gem from Kris, from Boojums Press, dated 1974.
"Invasion of the Klingon Empire" a 94-page tale by John DuMaurier, (also from PA!) dated 1978. Kang is a central character, It has many elegant maps of Klingon space and planets.
"Comes the Sun", volume 1 of the Kraaxi chonicles, 109 pages, dated May, 1995. Written by Sue Ann Weaver, illustrated vby Anna0Karin Lasrsson. As the author decribes it--"A series of inter-rlalted novellas and stories. They focus on the Imperial Mounted Guard. A delight especially for lovers of horses!
And on the writer-contact-for-permission side, I've had great messages from Sue Weaver and Cat Ramos. Cat will be delighted to have her work up here, but asked me to wait until she sends revised versions of her 7-part series, "Citizen of Empire." It's mostly about changing the name of a central character who had been named in honor of Cat's daughter's husband. They've now been through a yucky divorce, so Cat wants to change that name before we archive the work.
Sue Ann Weaver is also on board, so I have one of her zines here, and will be visiting the archive at Temple U to retrieve her amazing newsletter, "WarHorz."
No other confirmations to report. Working:-)
Hi, Jerry!
Dinna fass yerself about letter turn-aroudn times--we've all got lives! I am just wicked happy there is time in the lives of so many fine people for this stuff:-)
I'm embarrassed--thought I had a snail mail address for you, but don't find it. Please send? Thanks!
Now I'm off to call a couple people or email them--Cat Ramos, Ann Schwader, Devra Langsam, Fern Marder, Sue Anne weaver-- thinking I should make an honest effort to contact them for permissions to archive their Klingon novels online here.
And I wantecd to check with you about this--do you know if anyone has the two issues of "Heart of Glory" on hand? If not, let me know and I'll send mine along.
All the best,
Sue
